Single Storey
A building that consists of a ground storey only. Basements are not counted as storeys in a building (see Appendix D). A separated part that consists of a ground storey only, with a roof to which access is only provided for repair or maintenance, may be treated as a single storey building.

A Double-story building can have any number of levels (stories), contrary to what Nelson Yu claims. A Double-story building is required to have 2 finished levels above ground. Even when a basement is finished and heated and made into an apartment, it is not considered a story because it is below ground.
